MAHAVEER UNIVERSITY SARDHANA Debate Competition on Women’s Reservation

Mahaveer University, Meerut, organized a vibrant debate competition to commemorate the birth centenary of the Late Kamala Bahuguna Ji, a stalwart in Indian politics. The event focused on the topical issue of whether true equality can be achieved through reservations for women in India.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from students, who presented well-reasoned arguments on both sides of the debate. While some participants highlighted the necessity of reservations as a tool to uplift women and promote gender equality, others questioned its long-term effectiveness in achieving true parity, advocating for more comprehensive social reforms instead.
MAHAVEER UNIVERSITY the event was graced by Prof. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, former MP and Cabinet Minister of Uttar Pradesh, as the chief guest. In her address, Prof. Joshi emphasized the significance of Kamala Bahuguna Ji’s contributions to women’s empowerment and stressed the need for continued dialogue on how policies like reservations can foster real change in society.
The competition concluded with the announcement of winners and an encouraging message from the university administration, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to fostering critical thought and social progress.
